Accessibility Statement
Digital Native Africa is committed to ensuring our platform is accessible to everyone — regardless of ability, device, or environment.
We believe that access to education and opportunity should not be limited by disability. DNA is designed to serve every person across Africa and beyond — including those with visual, auditory, cognitive, and motor disabilities.
This statement describes our current accessibility posture, the standards we work toward, and how to reach us if you encounter a barrier on our platform.
Our Commitments
Visual Accessibility
We maintain a minimum colour contrast ratio of 4.5:1 for all body text and interactive elements, following WCAG 2.1 AA standards. All icons and visual indicators are supplemented with text labels.
Keyboard Navigation
Every feature on the DNA platform is operable via keyboard alone. Focus states are clearly visible, skip-to-main-content links are provided, and focus order follows a logical reading sequence.
Screen Reader Support
We use semantic HTML5 elements and ARIA attributes to ensure compatibility with leading screen readers including NVDA, JAWS, and VoiceOver. All images include descriptive alt text.
Mobile & Touch
All interactive touch targets meet the 44×44px minimum size recommended by WCAG 2.1. Our platform is fully responsive and tested across multiple device sizes and orientations.
Language & Readability
Content is written in plain language. We are actively working to add multilingual support including French, Swahili, and Hausa, with more African languages planned.
Captions & Transcripts
All video content on DNA includes English closed captions. Full text transcripts are available for download on every lesson. Audio descriptions are being added to video content progressively.
Conformance Status
Known Limitations
Some older video content may lack captions — we are progressively adding them.
Complex data visualisations on the design system page may not fully convey meaning to screen readers.
PDF certificate downloads are not yet fully tagged for screen-reader accessibility.
